Loose leash walking

Jackson is walking on a loose leash and sits when a stranger approaches. A cat is walking by, Jackson is looking but stays seated.

A calm response to the doorbell

Speedy is reacting to the doorbell sound. He follows and barks at guests and has had a history of biting. Speedy's behavior is fear motivated.

Theo loves guests and greets them with excitement and jumping. He learned to go to his mat and wait for the guests to come to him for greeting and treats.

This is called DRI, differential reinforcement of incompatible behavior.
